Hatch Africa is pioneering a new business model across sub-Saharan Africa to bring eggs and chickens to every household.

Hatch Africa works across six countries in sub-Saharan Africa: Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana and Ivory Coast.

Hatch Africa aims to distribute one chicken per person per year in each of its markets, ensuring every family has enough affordable protein in the home. One egg per child per day has been shown to reduce the rate of stunting among children by 47%. Hatch Africa is working to make this a reality.

Over 85% of households in sub-Saharan Africa raise chickens at home, but struggle with low-yielding breeds and high mortality. Hatch Africa supplies small-scale producers with fully vaccinated, high-yielding, dual-purpose chickens that are tropically adapted, free-ranging, semi-scavenging, and thrive in village conditions.

“There is an opportunity to end rural poverty and malnutrition in Africa during our lifetime and we are a part of the solution.”
